Okay, so, like the "what are you listening to/watching?" thread, this one's about video games. I made a separate thread because I figure there should be a lot more discussion about it. I was playing Halo 3: ODST earlier today, but then me and Pap's Xbox Live decided that the internet should drop off and disconnect us right in the middle of a Firefight game, so we gave it a rest for the day. Also, I've been trying to play Chronicles of Riddick, Escape from Butcher Bay. I've heard mostly good things about this game...but so far I'm finding that the mechanics suck. I mean, it's on normal, but if I get caught out in the line of sight for a second, suddenly I'm either dead or down to one health. Also, wtf am I suppose to do about that giant walker near the beginning? I understand you're suppose to shoot him in the back, but how the effe am I suppose to do that when it's impossible to get around him without getting a million holes put in me? |

I've been playing a lot of KOTOR. Just got it for the PC and am reliving all the glorious moments of the game that I had all but forgotten. |

@ Tak, if you're on anything but Hard, freakin' run. The thing can't make good corners, so running down the hall will give you a bit of an edge after each turn. Just stay full speed because, if I remember right, you kill it in a cut scene and there is a heath refill afterward. |

Too late, already sent it back to Gamefly. <<;; Not worth my time. >>;; I'm hoping to get Dead Space Extraction. Also, OMG, I've been playing Halo 3: ODST all flippin' day. It's just so much better than Halo. <<;; It feels more B.A. when I kill a horde of covenant than it does in Halo, cuz I'm just an ordinary ODST, and not a super soldier. Plus, the gameplay just gets better with every game. I'm so excited for Halo: Reach. |

Fallout 3, KOTOR 2 and Dungeons And Dragons Online are my current fare Played ODST today, like it quite a bit, but what I don't like is it's so damn dark and hard to see without the night sight always on, but then there are a few area's that are blinding bright |

I agree about some awkward lighting at places. I have the visor-mode on as much as possible, helps point out the baddies. |

Hmm...I kinda want to get ODST, or rather, I really did, but now that the hype has built up so much I don't feel like getting it yet. For some reason I like to be the guy who wants to talk about games that came out half-a-decade ago while everyone else is fixated on the shiny new ones. I think it's a coping mechanism I developed for being poor. |

I am currently playing a lot of Nazi Zombies on Call of Duty: World at War. The campaign is horrible, but killin' "Nat-zies" and zombies at the same time is amazing. |

I'm sick of WWII shooters. The formula never changes, and there's not enough there for me to care about in the first place. Is Halo ODST really that good? Worth schilling out the dough for? Be honest now, if I catch a whiff of fanboy I'm breaking your shinbones. |

Well to me it seemed that if you was good at halo3 then odst gave no challenge. Truthfully, I say rent it and decide for yourself. I like it but not enough to buy. |

Yeah, defiantly a rent. Anyone who knows there way around the Halo universe can finish Hard in about an hour*. You should be able to get the achievements in about a week, if that, and there;s always that "friend" who got it at launch who you can barrow it from after your rental is up to experience Firefight over again. And about WWII shooters, I agree completely, but when you get fun things like a Ray Gun ala 1950, or get to "upgrade" a MG40 with intricate metal designs, faster rate of fire, more stopping power, and cool pink muzzle flash, you just might fall in love with capping people all over again. *Note: I say this not from experience, but from reviews. I assume it's storyline only, as collectibles are for true fans of the series who paid full price for it anyway. To further my point, I have yet to actually own a copy of Halo 3, instead borrowing where I can. |

BT, stop spreading fallacies. Originally the game was slated to only be a couple hours long, now it's about 5-ish hours if you just play it through straight, running from one thing to the next. The collectibles aren't fanboy-ish or just collection-ish either. They're audio logs that tell the story of another character who is in New Mombasa (the city you're in) before you dropped down to it. It also gives you details behind the big secret in the storyline, such as how certain things happened. Plus, getting the audio logs somehow appeased the SuperIntendant, and thusly he starts opening up supply caches for the Rookie to get weapons and such from throughout the game (the night sections with the Rookie only). The storyline itself is my favorite from any Halo game so far, and I find the gameplay to be much more fun than any Halo game previous as well. And, contrary to what the King says, it isn't that easy -- so long as you're playing by yourself or have the majority of the skulls turned on. Granted, yes, it's a breeze when you play it on normal difficulty and run around tea-bagging things with three other friends, but the story is aimed toward a solo experience in the first place. To me it seems like the co-op is added on for people who just want to run around and have fun later (or for guys who want their girlfriends to play, and they want to play together). Really, I can't get enough of this game. But...maybe it's just the resurrected Halo: Combat Evolved pistol. Though I do really like the story, and it's very interesting to see the Engineers being such a big part. ![]() That's not to mention Firefight, which, in itself, is fairly entertaining. Basically, you and up to three friends fight an endless stream of covenant, and it couldn't be more satisfying to bludgeon, blow up, and shoot to death thousands of covenant. The only downside is that you technically can never win as they don't stop coming, but hey it's just like Nazi Zombies or Horde mood in Gears of War 2 in that respect. And then there's disc two, which contains the complete Halo 3 Multiplayer experience. It's like owning a Halo 3 disc minus the campaign and plus every single map released to date. Fun for all the friend's and family. In fact, that's why I'd suggest you buy it, BT. If you get Gold again, we'd have hours and hours of fun doing Firefight and Halo multiplayer (since you'd have all the maps). It's definitely worth the price, so long as you enjoy playing Halo. If you're not a Halo person, then of course you won't like this game. But it is worth the $60 door price. Oh, but if you're not going to play online, then the majority of it is virtually useless to you. In which case I would suggest renting in now (you can beat the campaign in a day if you just push straight through, and getting most campaign achievements shouldn't take more than a week. Those are true of what people have said), and then get a used copy later when it's waaaaaaay down in price. Yes, I'm a little bit of a fanboy, but I'm not retardedly fanboying over this game. I really do think it's a good game in it's own respect and most of the negativity are coming from people who haven't played it and are just going off of hearsay. *coughs*BT*coughs* |

I'm not going to comment back at Tak, seeing as yes, I haven't played the game. But, I happen to know Gears 2 does have a cap on level Fifty on hoard, and I've reached it several times. |

Ah, I did not know that. I have only played Horde a couple of times. Firefight, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure doesn't have a cap. It's just a vie to get the highest score and longest times (though I think it's mostly about score). |
